Cocora Valley

This is one of the most beautiful and unique places in the Quindío región due to the incomparable beauty of its landscapes. The Cocora Valley invites you to hike, ride and experience the local culture. “Cocora” was the name of a Quimbayan princess, daughter of the local chief Acaime. The name Cocora means “Star of Water” (Spanish: Estrella de Agua). The Valley is the perfect place to see our national tree and symbol of Colombia, the Quindío wax palm (Ceroxylon quindiuense). This is the only palm tree that grows at this altitude and can reach an impressive 70m in height. The Valley is surrounded by the Central Andes Mountain Range and is one of the most diverse and unique places of our country due to the beauty of the landscape.
